My Houseplant Catalog

I have started to catalog all of the species of plants that I currently own or have had in the past. I will include variations of a species, but if something is similar and just has a different bloom color, etc., I am likely not to include it.

If you visit the page and see something not labeled with the scientific name, that means the name of the plant has me stumped. So feel free to comment and let me know what it is, or even the common name. Also, if you see something that is named wrongly or you think it might be, feel free to speak up about that, too. This has been a continual learning process, so I anticipate many mistakes. :)

Enjoy!

    Hello,
I’m looking for the name of a plant that was given to me. It’s leaves are small, almost diamond shaped & it’s flowers are white with bright pink centers. The flowers grow in clusters with 6 or 7 in a circle with one in the middle. It’s more of a hanging plant & the flowers look like they’re made out of wax! It has taken me years to get this plant to grow & bloom… I’m not very good with plants… but this time it has 27 clusters on it! Someone asked me what it was & of course, I had to tell them I didn’t know! Can you help? Thanx

I was given a plant, well it’s more a tree. The stems are flaky and uneven. The leaves green and oval also uneven around the edges. I put it outside and the leaves burnt leading me to believe it is an indoor house tree. In the house it is growing more leaves and doing fine. I would just like to know what in the world it is!

    Thanks

Hi–I’m looking for a plant someone gave me (it died after several years). It was 2-3 feet tall, had curving branches with clusters of leaves at the end of the branches. The leaves were dark reddish-brown, almost a maroon color. Is this a type of croton? I’d like to find another one . . .
    thanks much,
    Judy Frey

I’m trying to figure out what this houseplant is and how to care for it. I really like it and don’t want it to die. It’s some sort of ivy that likes to climb apparently. It’s leaves are smaller green and seem to have white edging…however I’m not sure the white edging is because of something I’m not doing right or it’s part of the plant because some leaves are bigger and just green…it could be i have two different types of ivy in same pot too. I won this plant at an auction.
